Residential Treatment

Residential Treatment Programs

Laurel Heights Hospital provides residential treatment programs for children and adolescents (ages 6 and up) who present with severe and complex psychiatric and behavioral difficulties that impact multiple areas of functioning.

Children are placed within separate, secure therapeutic units based on their age, gender and special treatment needs.

Likewise, our adolescent patients reside in completely separate treatment units that are also designated by age, gender and treatment needs. For both age groups, this ensures that programming can be tailored to meet our residents’ specific developmental needs and individualized treatment issues.

Residential Psychiatric Program

Laurel Heights Hospital provides intensive residential psychiatric treatment for children age 6–17.

Specialized Residential Treatment Programs

Through our Discovery Program, Laurel Heights Hospital provides highly specialized residential treatment for children ages 6–17 who have been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, and who demonstrate severe behavioral difficulties and psychiatric illnesses.

TRICARE®-Certified Residential Program

Laurel Heights Hospital is honored to serve military families by providing TRICARE®-certified programs for boys and girls who face a broad range of psychiatric and behavioral difficulties.

In addition to families from Georgia, we serve children of active duty and retired military families from across the United States and overseas by making special arrangements for family participation. If geographical distance precludes in-person weekly family therapy, we will conduct the therapy by phone or ZOOM and we will work with a therapist in the family’s home community. Laurel Heights Hospital also assists families with lodging and transportation costs when needed, to ensure full participation in the treatment process.

Foster Care

Our Olympus Foster Care program is geared for youth ages 4–17 who struggle with emotional or behavioral difficulties. Foster care gives these young people an opportunity to live within the community in the naturally therapeutic environment of a family. Our foster parents are trained, supervised, and supported by the Laurel Heights Specialized Foster Care Treatment Team.

Educational Services

Laurel Heights Academy is the educational program for Laurel Heights Hospital. The academy is located on campus and follows the Georgia Department of Education curriculum. It is also accredited by Cognia. The curriculum includes reading, language arts, mathematics, social studies, science and physical education/recreation therapy.
